Imaginary Island is a hands-on, interdisciplinary curriculum that guides students through the creation of their own island while exploring physical geography, earth science, ecosystems, early human history, anthropology, and much more.

Over the course of 30 fully planned lessons, students move from shaping landforms to designing island flora and fauna, to imagining how humans settle, survive, and thrive!
While completing this project, students will:
Create physical and topographic maps of their island
★ Explore climate, biomes, and ecosystems
★ Build food webs and ecological systems
★ Investigate natural resources and how they are used
★ Map human migration and early settlement patterns
★ Design industries and trade systems
★ Develop culture and fundamental human needs resources
★ Determine government types, and city structures
★ Imagine a complete, cohesive island nation
★ Plus projects they invent and create themselves!
Your download consists of four files. First, the Student Text, written directly to the student in a simple, clutter free style with full color, realistic images. Second, the Instructor Guide lays out everything you, the adult, needs to know to guide your learners through their island creation. Also included is a Metric Supplement. The Imaginary Island curriculum is written in US Customary (Imperial) units of measurement. The Metric Supplement provides replacement pages where relevant. Finally, your download also includes the Printable Posters – larger scale version of the image included in the Student Text for printing or projecting.
